04 Luminos Pavilion

A pavilion that filters light and sound, providing an adaptable urban refuge that shifts between intimate solitude and dynamic communal engagement.

The pavilion is designed to be a sensitive mediator between the dynamic energy of the city and the quietude sought by its visitors, offering a flexible space that oscillates between moments of solitude and collective gathering. Designed with acoustically attuned elements such as varying ceiling heights, layered timber strips, and acoustic materials, the pavilion aims to cater to diverse sensory needs, particularly for those sensitive to overstimulation by sound, ensuring a range of interactive environments that respond to both individual and communal experiences.

By day, the pavilion’s filtered light and sound-softening materials create intimate, tranquil niches for reflection, while by night, the same structure becomes a glowing latern, inviting shared engagement. Whether providing an acoustically shielded alcove for a shadow puppet performance or an open rooftop for spontaneous gatherings, the pavilion is meant to remains ever-adaptive. It functions not only as a shelter but as a dynamic stage—an evolving space that attunes itself to the ebb and flow of the city’s rhythm and its inhabitants' needs.
