The given sample of fabric exhibits strong and complex characteristics with its layered folds. It features a large shaded area and prominent ridges, creating a pronounced contrast between the elevated ridges and the deep valleys. While the terrain is generally gentle, it shares similarities with the fabric. Towards the bottom tip, a gentle bump creates highlights, while towards the top tip, it exhibits a lower profile, resulting in deeper shadows.

The purpose of the design is to capture and convey the fabric sample’s characteristics in relation to the provided terrain. The grid study captures the general direction of the lines and flows; the panel study is dedicated to marks the intensity of light and shadow in various areas through different textures of the modules. After multiple iterations and alterations, the Hybrid study emerges, showcasing contrasts in lighting and variations in layer levels. The Artefact is created to accentuate these contrasts by introducing dynamic movements and tension, which can be applied to the fabric sample.

As the final product, the Composite harmoniously blends the actual fabric texture with the Artefact, resulting in a composition that, unexpectedly, carries an air of mystery. The stark contrast and the presence of a large dark space, though unintentional, give a small emotional impact, which is satisfactorily embraced.
